If you pay attention to your grip as it is now, it maybe a bit too tight as you are swinging the club, It might pay to loosen it a little during the swing. This could be the reason for the hook. Grip tension causes you to over rotate your wrists which causes you to close the clubface before making contact. Now that you are aware of this be sure to check your all the time. Measure and test your new found awareness at the driving range.

Before positioning yourself in your golf swing stance make you place the ball a fraction away from your body. Usually this is good for the average guy who tends to hook alot, which in turn makes you use a little bit more bottom hand which may cause you to slice which is not a bad thing, you are on the right track. You may find yourself hitting the straight a bit more than you were before. Keep practicing this technique until you get a consistent straight ball.

Aim for the right of your target if you are right handed, if left handed try the opposite. This maybe helpful for you at this stage if you are still having trouble with the hook. Test this tip out until you can get a good consistent result.

Make sure that the follow through of your swing ends with your weight on your front foot. This is key. With your weight on your back foot you will more than likely hook the ball. Focus on what you are doing with your current swing. You may find with this reason that you hook the ball.
